In India, other than HIV, chronic kidney disease (CKD) is considered the most serious and financially burdensome disease. The leading causes for CKD are diabetes and hypertension; and, its regression can be brought about by treating these two diseases. For the first time in India, Dayabhavan commenced simple urine tests for kidney screening. Here, if the person is found to have abnormal results, the blood is collected and a serum creatinine test is carried out. In case the impression is positive, the patient is referred to Nephrologists.
Awareness and Screening program
The caring hand of Dayabhavan has been extended to those suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease. The process commenced by creating awareness for poor people with known symptoms of Blood Pressure and Diabetes and those who have a family history of Kidney disease and subsequently, through screening programs in rural areas of Tumkur. Referral services are a part of the care mission. We reach out to about 6000 people every year both among rural and urban population.
World Kidney Day Celebration
Dayabhavan observes World Kidney Day and successfully imparts facts and informations on kidney-related aspects in the entire Tumkur district of Karnataka State.
